Western Railroad Discussion > CORP Weed SwitcherDate: 11/17/24 21:02 CORP Weed Switcher Author: shortlineboss How often is tne CORP Weed switcher operating now?
Mike Root Madras, OR Date: 11/18/24 09:34 Re: CORP Weed Switcher Author: TCnR If that's the Weed to Hornbrook turn or job, it seems to be any three of five days a week. They tie up in Weed before 3 pm. The power is parked at the east leg of the wye in town so it's easy to spot.
If that's the Plant switching activity in Weed, it's usually after the run to Hornbrook. They set out the empties and usually build their next train on the tail track, the two tracks near hiway 97. There could be more work at the beginning of the next shift but it's not obvious. When they are switching they can be heard on CORP south end channel, same channel as the talking detectors and the road channel. If that's the Weed to Black Butte activity, they is not much of that going on. The BB run would be the C-beams loaded with round fence poles, which are the left overs from turning the raw logs into sheets of veneer. There seems to be quite a bit of truck traffic with those fence poles. The C-beams would be loaded at the south edge of the plant, sometimes veneer is loaded there as well. the BBCRC guys have a good idea of what goes on at the yard at Black Butte. Hope that helps. + I will post a recent photo when I get a chance. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/18/24 09:44 by TCnR. The second photo shows the train of the day plus two more wood chip cars. The 3 days of 5 idea seems to allow for a slightly bigger train. + the last chip gon in the second photo has full height graffiti. It's almost possible to track the bulkhead flats by color and the chip gons by grafitti. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/18/24 13:48 by TCnR. |
