Sun setting on the #923
Author: weather

With their announcement of he Legacy Cal-Train equipment headed to Lima Peru, it will interesting to see what happens the #923. Here it is last night shinning in new paint having just been out shopped by Alshton-Seimens at their Vallejo plant.  Earlier in the afternoon it was picked up by the CFNR local and added to Suisun Hauler.  I was coming back from SF and the sun was just setting behind the unit on the Schellville main in Suisun coupled to the evening LRG-90 Roseville turn. I only had one opportunity to get the setting sun through the cab. 2nd image is a close-up of the rebuilt/restored engine. Text and photos by Mike Pechner

By early this morning on Turkey Day, the 923 had made it to Roseville on the UP.

Any idea what it says on the top of the cab above the door?

Nice photos, the 923 should be retained along with the other MP36s and the newest F40PH-2s for the San Jose-Gilroy diesel service.

The writing on the top of the cab marks the location for emergency cut-away access:
