Western Railroad Discussion > Some had to ride the rails on ThanksgivingDate: 11/29/24 18:05 Some had to ride the rails on Thanksgiving Author: highgreengraphics Yesterday's UP 02 LaSalle - Fort Collins, CO Local was business as usual yesterday as the crew and train delivered loaded covered cement hoppers to the Holcim Cement loadout at the end of the Fort Collins Branch/Industrial Lead at Boettcher, CO. Photo 1 - Backing up the steep grade to the small cement plant yard. Photo 2 - After securing the loads, backing to the Boettcher switch with empties and "snoot" SD40-2 1820 leading. In the background are more loads to shove uphill since the train was longer than the 14 cars maximum upgrade to the plant. === === = === JLH

I was on a Z Thanksgiving day….definitely no extra, double, or holiday pay…. all straight time! Company says I was lucky to be able to even come in that day and move freight. Date: 12/03/24 13:35 Re: Some had to ride the rails on Thanksgiving Author: ns1000 Nice pics!!
