Western Railroad Discussion > Another New Mexico Mount Taylor shotDate: 01/08/25 19:15 Another New Mexico Mount Taylor shot Author: KimHeusel Seeing Aussie_Peter's great shot of a BNSF westbound with Mount Taylor in the background brought back memories of one of my trips to New Mexico. I didn't want to horn in on Aussie_Peter's thread so I started my own. Here are two shots of a BNSF coal train coming down the Lee Ranch Sub after passing through Escalante Junction and then coming off the sub onto the mainline at West Baca with Mount Taylor in the background. These were taken April 4, 2012. Also, thanks to Amtrak34East for showing me around that day.

Bryan Date: 01/09/25 13:50 Re: Another New Mexico Mount Taylor shot Author: Aussie_Peter Thanks for sharing these great shots Kim. I still kick myself that I never took photos of the Santa Fe trains on the branch nor of the Escalante Western GP-38's that took coal to PEGS. This is even more of a tragedy because I was the Australian VP of McKinley Paper Company who built on the PEGS site and had free access to the site, although I lived in Albuquerque. Too caught up in work and now I sit in retirement feeling very silly for not having done so.
I hope others will post more NM shots. I certainly will be Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/09/25 13:51 by Aussie_Peter. Date: 01/09/25 16:02 Re: Another New Mexico Mount Taylor shot Author: jgilmore Nice shots, several times I tried through the years to get a train on the branch but never did...
