More Bard Canyon.

Last week I made my way to the east side of the canyon, this time I went on the west side via Sloan Rd. I caught a UP Z train heading east which gave me a horn show! After waiting half an hour I caught another intermodal train heading west this time, 2 for 2 horn shows!

The third pic is excellent.  It captures the character of the land.  The UP type block signal adds to it as well.  BSB

Bard Canyon is on the west side of Las Vegas just coming out of Arden Yard. There are multiple entrances to the canyon and here are two I have drawn up, sorry for it being all over the place but this is the best I could come up with lol

Oops. I'm late to the party again! Thanks to koloradokid for the maps.

Sources say it's in southwestern Nevada. It's news to me too.

Thanks for the report from the other end!

More people might recognize the term "Sloan Mountain" instead of Bard Canyon... TO member vegasrails coined that term in his report titled "South of Las Vegas" from last August. Guess many people missed it.

FYI, proper thanks to you for the maps.

Google (search engine and maps) has a hard time finding "Bard Canyon" so the confusion is expected. I laugh at the algorithms. :-)

I believe Ken came up with the term due to the fact that the signals are labeled as "Bard". Bard Canyon makes sense for that reason.

Thank you! It is really rough getting up there, but I believe any pickup truck could make the drive up, I made it up in a RWD Ford F150.
