Western Railroad Discussion > MoPac on the MoPac!Date: 03/11/25 17:20 MoPac on the MoPac! Author: atx_railfan It's been a great week for railfans in Central Texas. This morning, I got a text from a friend who works at the San Antonio Intermodal Terminal that UP 1982, the Missouri Pacific heritage unit, was set to lead the ZEGYC (Intermodal, Eagle Pass, TX to Dolton, IL/Yard Center) this afternoon. While this train takes ex-SP rails from Eagle Pass to San Antonio, the rest of its trip is almost exclusively on ex-MoPac rails, making this a fitting leader for the highest priority train on the Austin Subdivision.

A gypsum train out to Gerlach, Nevada. Of course the eastbound run was at night, but I went and grabbed a clip of it at the Oroville WP depot:
https://youtu.be/qIqSxKjcHKY?si=9w_juniOVF_zuuOa It would have led on the westbound run too but there was some sort of issue and they added a unit on in front of it. Author: jgilmore Great catch at a cool spot, not many major US cities that have a heavy freight mainline rolling through or near the downtown (and that isn't walled or fenced off)...

How long is the ZEGYC running these days? Any significant sign of CN containers for the Falcon Premium service rolling on it? Date: 03/12/25 12:22 Re: MoPac on the MoPac! Author: atx_railfan pbouzide Wrote:

And also running second sections most days, which are typically on the shorter side. A decent amount of CN containers on both sections Date: 03/12/25 14:49 Re: MoPac on the MoPac! Date: 03/13/25 07:59 Re: MoPac on the MoPac! Author: tomstp I wish they would limit those trains to 11000 or 12000 ft..
