Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF at the MastersDate: 04/11/25 09:03 BNSF at the Masters Author: Chico56 BNSF sent 17 cars to the Masters this year. List courtesy of friend Al Langley who lives across the river from Augusta. There are a few errors on Al's list regarding car history but list is complete. Train is scheduled to head home on Monday but could depart late Sunday night. In addition to BNSF, CSX sent 14 cars and 3 executive units, NS 16 cars and 2 heritage units.

Thanks for sharing the info. Did the guests and railroad officials sleep on the train or just use those trains to get to/from the event? Date: 04/11/25 09:43 Re: BNSF at the Masters Author: Chico56 I am not sure, will inquire.

He has also authored or co authored several books on railroads in the south.

Out Date: 04/13/25 13:04 Re: BNSF at the Masters Author: MILW16 Guests stay on the train at the event. Normally only some of the crew and maybe a few extras ride the train. This can vary if the equipment is used for an event afterwards.
Note that the Stevens Pass is no longer an exercise car. A lounge now occupies that space; the exercise equipment was moved to the new power car. Edited 2 time(s). As an aside, my nephew lived in Augusta for a while in a stately Southern home not far from the entrance to Augusta National Golf Club. When they first looked at their house and did the math on an offer, the realtor informed my nephew and his wife that the property had a long-standing lease arrangement with a big luxury car company to rent the house for a few weeks during the golf tournament. "You take a vacation for a couple weeks and when you get home, the company brings in a cleaning service and leaves you a nice check..." the realtor said. Then they ran the numbers and discovered "that nice check" would pretty much cover their mortgage payments for the entire year. Quite a deal. Edited 1 time(s).
