World's Finest Melons
Author: tuxedorailfan

April 12th, 2025

CPKC train #252, the daily Bensenville, IL to Shreveport, LA manifest, rolls by the giant melon in downtown Muscatine, Iowa. Leading the train today is a pair of Tier 4's. One in the new company image and one of the Southern Belle's.

Enjoy!

I'd stack the melons from Hermiston, Oregon up as some of the top ones too!

How many units are in that paint?

The sign is just talking watermelons? Are they still big there?

There’s still quite a few in the Southern Belle paint.

The sign it’s talking about watermelons, I assume Muscatine was once a melon town.

Not clue if they’re big or not. I’m not a melon expert.

KCS bought 25 ET44AC's and numbered them 5000 to 5024 in 2018 and 2019.  I do not believe any have been stricken from the roster or repainted.

They’re all still the same. It’ll be a while before those are messed with. To busy earning revenue.
