Ferromex South of the Border
Author: BCHellman

Returning from Guaymas/Obregon, Sonora, Friday afternoon, I intercepted this southbound Ferromex between Casita and Cumeral, about 30 miles south of Nogales. This portion will probably be mothballed when the Imuris to Nogales cutoff is completed in May. The only mystery is where the line will cross highway Fed 15 from the westside to the eastside. I thought it would be near Imuris, but I say no such activity.

It Looks like Jointed rail in the shot. How much of the rail in Mexico is welded rail would you guess?

It would be nothing but a guess, and an uneducated one at that. In my observation on FXE on the former FCP (SPdeM) is that it is mostly welded rails on cement ties. The first photo shows this.
