BNSF Ottumwa and Creston, Iowa Sub Action 4/12
Author: MILW86A

This past weekend was the NRHS Iowa Chapter Spring Meeting in Red Oak, Iowa. On the way down and Saturday afternoon we got a few trains. I had not been to Creston and west in sometime and got some good results.
1. First up is Amtrak 6 buzzing along at Murray Iowa
2 and 3: Behind him at MP 374 east of Thayer, Iowa was 2x2x2 for the CPKC at Ottumwa. Grade EB here is .68 percent.

At Creston
1. 5638 getting ready to depart. Railroading Safely since 1869.
2. EB coming into town at New York Ave with a friendly crew
At Red Oak
3. 5638 from the overpass just east of the depot.

We had a good two hour meeting where a couple of westbounders went by.
After the meeting two EB Coal Loads snuck up on us. So these were thru the fence on the depot side.

1. EB Coal about to climb the .66 percent out of Red Oak on Main 2
2 and 3 Coming west on main 1 was a WB Stack train. Was nice to see.

1. Another WB Hopper
2. WB HGALLIN going past the 1903 built depot.
That was it for Saturdays action. Hit the motel, ate with friends and just relaxed.
Part 2 from Sunday to follow.
Thank you as always for looking.

Nice series on an interesting line. Looks like Red Oak depot is getting make over.  I spent some interesting hours in the past there. Need to get back.

Nice look at this line.  Some of those trains look familiar.

Nice stuff, K-Man.  I noticed thei BN sign is still on the west end of the depot some 30 years after the BNSF merger.

Depot is now a museum. We had our Chapter Meeting Saturday morning inside. Very nicely restored.
