BNSF Creston and Ottumwa Sub Action 4/13
Author: MILW86A

Got up early on Sunday there at Red Oak and went out early to get #6 getting around a load east of town.
This location used to be the east end of two mains at Red Oak until either BN or BNSF added about 3 more miles of track east in the mid 1990s
Between the end of the two mains you can hold about 3 trains total.

Now we are further east at MP 423 at Nodaway Iowa which is the east end of two main tracks between here and Villisca. We had a couple of the townsfolk ask what we were doing but enjoyed the visit.

1. EB Coal
2. WB Stack withthe Kent Feeds Sign(that is for my pal AndyBrown)
3. Right behind the stacker another WB Hopper

After the two WBs cleared Nodaway we got this 2x1 Grain Train mostly made up of ADMX cars. We got him here then at MP397 just west of Creston.

I too like that Kent Feeds sign for obvious reasons.  Thanks for sharing.

Our motorcar ( track Speeder) club rode the rail from Creston to Greenfield years ago, probably around 1995, pre BNSF times.  We put the cars on the track west of the depot, then proceded on the mainline for several hundred feet and then up the branch.  It was a very slow ride because the track was in horrible shape.  You would roll along and hit a joint on one side, slam the car to the opposite side, then repeat about 8000 times.  I remember they offered to let us ride it twice that day but believe me, once was enough!

Nice shots too.

Good stuff Dave!  You got a fair amount of trains, especially like the stack trains.
