My guess is they will continue to push the technology as far as they can to squeeze every possible nickel out of the situation. We’ve all seen it before, but corporate greed will keep pushing train length until some huge disaster happens. But that’s OK. They can always blame it on the engineer. As usual…

He said the dispatcher won't take you until there is a clear track for you west of Amarillo. TAW Date: 04/16/25 13:57 Re: How long is long Author: 57A26 It's not been that long since 9500ft or 10000ft was a long train. Now it's "only" 9500 or 10000 ft. I suspect eventually, it will be, "it's 'only' 3 miles long. I read a while back they are working on an EOT that will be able to maintain good communication 5 miles from the lead engine. I take that to mean without the use of repeaters in the train.
