From the pictures I have seen, there were no engines involved.

A friend of mine who lives in Decatur and who's husband is a retired police chief but still works part time as a lawman, said there were 15 to 17 cars derailed, a couple of which were actually laying on northbound lanes of Hwy 287...didn't hear if any locomotives were involved..
