Western Railroad Discussion > Recently painted(?) UP9656 (ex-SP8192) on Sunset routeDate: 02/07/04 12:03 Recently painted(?) UP9656 (ex-SP8192) on Sunset route Author: espeeboy This unit is unique as being the last SP C44-9W to survive on. Of the 101 C44-9W's ordered by SP, 100 were renumbered, repainted and/or patched by the year 2001. So the SP8192 by itself managed to evade the UP patch/paint patrol for three additional years! It was recently renumbered and rumored to have been painted 2 weeks ago at Jenks North Little Rock Diesel. No one has gotten and posted photos of it yet so it could be patched (doubt it). This is it's first trip out west handling a 115 car long stack train (maybe empties?). Don't know if it is leading. Arrival in Tucson is set for just after 5:00P today and eventual arrival in Long Beach for tomorrow night. Might be a good catch out on the Lordburg Sub today and out on the Yuma sub tomorrow during the day...
