Consist, motive power and purpose are unknown. OLS special?
Date: 05/03/04 22:54 Re: UP Passenger Special out of Oakland Early Tuesday m Author: Pullman Heard on the radio tonight being made up SOAOA with the Silver Lariat. And there was a car coming up on 14 tonight as well. could be the same.
Date: 05/03/04 23:59 Re: UP Passenger Special out of Oakland Early Tuesday m Author: sploopconductor That does sound like a OLS "Catch'em" train... especially with the 0400 OD time.
Larry Date: 05/04/04 00:02 Re: UP Passenger Special out of Oakland Early Tuesday m Author: Ditchlite Wait a sec. I saw 14 in Camarillo this morning with all Superliners, no specials. And just where is this train going? The original poster said Oakland to Oakland.
Thanks Ditchlite Date: 05/04/04 00:54 Schedule for UP SOAOA 04 Officer Special Author: espeeboy Not sure what equipment they are running but this train is a few hours away from being ready to make the short roundtrip move from Oakland to Emigrant Gap and back. Yup, strange train turn around spot but I guess this is a scheduled scenic train trying to get the best scenery out of Donner without getting hosed at the slow grade part of Donner (above Emigrant Gap).
Would appreciate any info on this train if spotted later today (hint hint Gobb!) ~~~ SOAOA 04 S-customer Special Dep. Oakland 04:00A, ETA Roseville 09:00A, Dep. Roseville 10:00A, ETA Em. If anyone is listening to the scanner and wants to post Roseville departure info for this evening, I can probably get over to the station to shoot it. Or email me, Gobbl3gook at yahoo.com Ted in Davis Date: 05/04/04 13:29 Here is Schedule Author: chrisb SOAOA 04 S-customer Special Thru Oakland, CA 0

With 4 hours, 59 minutes to do the 2 hour Roseville-Oakland run, it will be hard to pinpoint an eta anowhere along the line. Ted in Davis Date: 05/04/04 14:26 "California Air Regulator" inspection train Author: UPRRPR The train was to have a GE C45ACCTE "Evolution" Tier 2 unit on one end and an EMD SD70M Tier 1 unit on the other, sandwiching the private dome, Silver Lariat. About 25 passengers were expected to ride.
Date: 05/04/04 19:25 UP5698 stays in Roseville Author: espeeboy The UP5060 and the Silver Lariat are coming into Oakland right now MINUS the GEVO C45 UP5698. Talk about an easy prototype passenger train to model! Looks like the GEVO unit got left in Roseville on the return trip back form Emigrant Gap. D-oh! Although it would have been trailing, it would have seen good sun between Richmond and Emeryville. Oh well...
