MoPac depot...Aurora, MO
Author: trainmaster

This is a photo of the former MoPac depot in Aurora, MO. The depot is located on MoPac's White River Line which later passed to the UP, and is now owned by M&NA. The depot has been beautifully restored and is used by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. A former MoPac caboose is located at the east end of the building. There is also a small museum along with a small G scale layout in the east end of the building. A very nice depot!

We go to Branson a few times each year, going from Kansas City down through Mt. Vernon and Aurora and then to Branson. It is really a great looking depot and so is the caboose. Aurora is an interesting town, there is a large elevator there, pretty old, but you see it on the horizon long before you see Aurora. We will stop next trip down in a month and visit the depot.

I used to work on the two-way radio base station that was located in the stainless steel box next to the radio tower. Me and old Bill Good from Nevada were the last two radio tech's to service this line for radios service before UP sold it off......too bad!
