Western Railroad Discussion > Colorful UP consist on the Mojave Sub at Canyon, CA todDate: 06/11/04 16:27 Colorful UP consist on the Mojave Sub at Canyon, CA tod Author: PasadenaSub Got up to Cajon Pass early enough this morning to take advantage of good light, after nearly a week of 'June gloom' overcast. UP's Mojave Sub (ex-SP Palmdale cutoff) was busy, and I witnessed a three train meet at the west end of Canyon siding, with 2 northbounds going in the hole for a southbound manifest.
Here's some shots of the first NB in the siding, after the SB had passed. All taken about 8am. Big 8-unit consist, with the following power: UP 9521, NS 9519, (CSX lettered) ex-Conrail SD50 8658, dynamic-less UP SD40-2 (ex MP?) 7884, UP SD60M 6272, UP SD60M 6171, UP SD40-2 3262, and patched (ex-SP) SD40M-2 2747. The summer light was good, up until around 10:30am, when the 'high-noon' crunchy shadows set in for the mid-day.
