Cajon = Georgeous on Oct 30, 2004
Author: anaheim-al

Spent the afternoon at Cajon, Saturday Oct 30th. Easily made it to
my preferred spots. Saw two hunters, chatted briefly. After they
left, I wondered if hunting is allowed in the area ?? Don't think so.

The Standard station... I mean the Chevron station, has Adventure Passes,
(unleaded was $2.44). No need for a pass on 10-30-2004, the last Saturday
of each month is "free". Never did see a FS ranger.

Good stuff, typical train traffic...

Cool and windy at times. Perfect weather.

Hardly a soul in sight, except for the BNSF 911 road foreman, who was
motoring about. Also one ATV family that passed my spot repeatedly.

Glad you had a pleasant visit. I'm hoping that there wll be a few "snow days" up there in the coming months. I will skip a class in a heart beat to play in the snow. ;-D

Great Pic and we dream of paying $2.44 for unleaded here in England.
The last time I filled my Chevy S10 I paid $6.60 per gallon.
Cheers.

Hunting is legal in many areas of San Bernardino Couty where recreational shooting isn't. Standard state laws apply as to distance from buildings, over roads, etc, etc.

Didn't hear any gun shots until dusk...

And lastly, between trains, I took care of some correspondence...

It doesn't get much better than this. Except, maybe some better
food than the deli sandwich from the gas station.

Last note of Cajon concern...

Past notebooks in the strong box at 582 are missing. I am guessing/
hoping that they were taken for protection from the rain ( ?? ).
Those notes need to find their way back to the strong box. They are
a great testimony (and humor) to the visitors and of the visitors to
582. A zip-lock baggie should do the trick to keep them safe from
the dampness.

They have to pass a Hunter Safety class, get an annual license and buy an Adventure Pass to hunt in the Forest.

Greg,

Whattheheck are you doing in Cali-forn-eye-aaaa? Are you travelling alone? Shame you couldn't have waited a couple of weeks, I'll be out there the 8th through the 12th...although getting up to the pass might be tricky while I'm working...
