COEH is assigned to the Conecuh Valley Railroad, a short line in Alabama, a part of the Gulf and Ohio Railway Holdings group.

If the cars you saw were in COEH series 10001-10130 (the only ones I know about), they were aluminum coal gondolas, not hoppers. These cars were built by Trinity Industries about mid-year.

COEH gons started showing up about 14-15 months ago in the PRB. They started around COEH 5600 and went up from there, recent deliveries have brought them into the 7000s. Oh, and there were a few with higher numbers in 699,000 series. (I haven't seen this Trinity 10001-100130 set yet.) The 5600-6999 series and the 699,000s are Johnstown belly bottom (twin tub) gondolas. The 7000 and up series are similar cars by Trinity.

When I first started seeing these, they were usually on BNSF THH-symbol trains (AEC-Thomas Hill), then at the start of the year were on the CEB - (Illinois Power - Baldwin) trains a lot. But since then they've floated around a lot - from customer to customer, and from BNSF to UP, sort of like the CEFX cars do.
