Western Railroad Discussion > Live Railroad Radio WebsiteDate: 09/10/01 12:02 Live Railroad Radio Website Author: spassmo For those of you who had been to our Live Railroad Radio Communications website at audio.railswest.net. We've changed the address to http://www.railroadradio.net We currently have the Highline, Feather River Canyon, Roseville area, SF Bay area, and Stampede pass available to listen to.

Date: 09/10/01 14:14 RE: soucal bnsf/uprr radios Author: spassmo Not that I know of. Unfortunately I don't foresee any new streams popping up since Live365 started charging a monthly fee for all new streams.
Steve P. Date: 09/10/01 14:26 RE: soucal bnsf/uprr radios Author: bassman What kind of equipment is needed to set up a live stream?
Date: 09/10/01 14:41 RE: Chicagoland radios? Author: Beava There any out there? BRC and Harbor would be interesting as nearly everybody runs over their lines.
Beava Canuck Pacific Railway B'ville, IL Date: 09/10/01 16:23 RE: equipment Author: spassmo Basically you need:
1, A reciever such as a scanner. (We use Motorola GM300 commercial trancievers with the exception of Roseville which is using a Uniden scanner) 2, A full time internet connection such as DSL or Cable. 3, Software on the computer to encode the audio from your sound card. (We use WinAmp/ShoutcastDSP) 4, A Server to distribute your stream to many listeners. We use Live365.com which until this month offered free accounts. Luckily for the time being, existing accounts are "grandfathered". New accounts run $4.95 a month so I doubt we'll see any new "hobby" streams such as these going up. Some people who have access to a computer on a high bandwidth network run their own Shoutcast server. Steve P. www.railroadradio.net Date: 09/10/01 16:32 RE: Chicagoland radios? Author: spassmo I've updated the links page on the website to include all the other Railroad Streams I know of. There's Decatur AL, North Jersey, Harrisburg PA, and Meriden CT.
Steve P. www.RailroadRadio.net Date: 09/10/01 19:12 RE: Chicagoland radios? Author: RRKen I think I would switch to a high speed connection if I knew of a rail radio-cast from Chicago. It would be pretty busy as most all the AAR channels are in use, some twice or three times in the Chicago Switching District. And to capture a lot of it, you would need at least two reciever sites, one on the south side, and one in the north side since the area is so large. And a downtown location is so loaded with intermod, it would be almost unusable.
I would open my pocket for a subscription if that were to help get it going. RRKen former Blue Island Railfan Date: 09/10/01 20:18 RE: Live Railroad Radio Website Author: dmaffei Cool stuff steve.
