Not that I know of. Unfortunately I don't foresee any new streams popping up since Live365 started charging a monthly fee for all new streams.

What kind of equipment is needed to set up a live stream?

There any out there? BRC and Harbor would be interesting as nearly everybody runs over their lines.

Basically you need:

1, A reciever such as a scanner. (We use Motorola GM300 commercial trancievers with the exception of Roseville which is using a Uniden scanner)

2, A full time internet connection such as DSL or Cable.

3, Software on the computer to encode the audio from your sound card. (We use WinAmp/ShoutcastDSP)

4, A Server to distribute your stream to many listeners. We use Live365.com which until this month offered free accounts. Luckily for the time being, existing accounts are "grandfathered". New accounts run $4.95 a month so I doubt we'll see any new "hobby" streams such as these going up. Some people who have access to a computer on a high bandwidth network run their own Shoutcast server.

I've updated the links page on the website to include all the other Railroad Streams I know of. There's Decatur AL, North Jersey, Harrisburg PA, and Meriden CT.

I think I would switch to a high speed connection if I knew of a rail radio-cast from Chicago. It would be pretty busy as most all the AAR channels are in use, some twice or three times in the Chicago Switching District. And to capture a lot of it, you would need at least two reciever sites, one on the south side, and one in the north side since the area is so large. And a downtown location is so loaded with intermod, it would be almost unusable.

I would open my pocket for a subscription if that were to help get it going.
