The track in the abandoned Stapleton Airport (Denver, Colorado) tunnels was removed Nov. 22-23, 2004. Demolition should occur in the coming weeks. Stapleton Airport was Denver's airport until Denver International Airport (DIA) opened.

Two unit trains moved through Denver on Nov. 23, 2004 heading for Fort Riley, KS. Nice variety of tanks, D9 armored dozers and trucks behind UP 9764-9460. Trains came from the National Training Center near Yermo, CA.

Saw two militery moves yasterday 11/23 one @ 6:30am and another @ 1:30pm Tower rd. Aurora Colo.

Caught them both. UP 9764, 9460 was thru here at 9:23AM on11-24. Missed the second D.S. but send some more this way cozephyr. Might have came thru when I was in Salina buying a RR bench. upkpfan

Where were these tunnels? I have driven along Smith Rd. where it parallels KP but the road cuts out just past the prison. Are the tunnels just west of the prison?
