20 locomotives in Colorado Springs on 11-29-04!
Author: Grande-Fan

With the cold weather I almost left the camera at home this morning, that would have been a bad idea. After watching the BNSF local working at Kelker I went downtown.
Finished my lunch and went up to the Bijou St bridge to take in the sight.
20 locomotives all running, must be for the P-811 rail train. 4 for the CSUX coal train.
Here is a run down of the units.
UP 8-40C #9355, UP SD40-2 #3525, UP C40-8W #9460, FURX SD40-2 #3051, UP SD40-2 #3549,
CSX SD50 #8576, HLCX SD40-2 #7156, UP SD70M 4233, 4110, 4075, UP AC4400 #6003, #7248, #5571, #6170, #7163, #6568, UP SD90MAC #8072, #8204, SP GP40M-2 #7110,
AND D&RGW GP40-2 #3105. I hope there is nothing wrong with SP 7110, back to Denver for
service?
Hope everybody enjoys these photos. This does not happen here very often.
Thanks for any comments,
Nathan Z.

Awesome!! Sure glad you decided to bring your camera along. I grew up less than 2 miles from the Colorado Springs yard, and never have I seen such a gathering. Thanks for sharing! Reb

New concrete tied line at Colorado Springs
Author: cozephyr

Fine catch for the typically quiet Colorado Springs. How far did the P811 lay concrete ties and new welded rail? Time for them to pack up and head for warmer climates.

Thanks everbody for looking.
I stopped downtown on the way to work this morning and there were still 13 units here.
They have new ties down just north of the MLK bypass.
I can see the P-811 from my office dock. Has not moved since
11-21-04.
Again Thanks
Nathan Z.
