Credit Due
Author: MacBeau

There has been some serious verbiage spent on Trainorders (and elsewhere) of late bad-mouthing the Union Pacific, and I have been among them. Out of fairness, the Yuma Subdivision hasn’t looked this good in three decades. The double tracking of Beaumont Hill is impressive and appears to be very fluid. Additionally, the traffic levels are superb. My last outing along the Sunset between Colton and Ferrum averaged 4 trains an hour, and they were all moving well. East of the of double track I saw a DS making the best of what he had to work with and nobody seemed to stay long in the hole, as the meets came quickly. I realize this is but a small portion of the big picture, and while I may hate that the SP is no longer lord of the manor, I must confess the new owner sure has been fixing up the place—credit due.
