Judging by the sun isn't that train going southeast into town as oppose to west?

Nice to see though and thanks for posting we were along there in April 04. Good memories.

Its an interesting piece of track, almost always something going on - sort of like a 10 mile yard with switchers running around all the time.

A 60 is missing the last two hood doors on the end under the radiators.

Re: Mixed up in Phoenix - east vs. westbound
Author: kysouthern

Skeeter,

You are correct. The train is going southeast into Phoenix, but it is still a westbound train. It took us awhile to figure that one out too. We would listen to the scanner and get it backward everytime. We finally talked to an engineer who explained that the trains are coming from Chicago and other points east. They come west through Winslow, turn south at Ashfork, turn east at Mathie and come on into Phoenix, but are still considered a westbound train. Hope that helps and glad you enjoyed the shots. It's always a good day to watch trains in Phoenix.

And an SD50 must be missing 4 doors then as there are two doors less on a 50
