More on the Coast and LA&SL reopenings
Author: ffrailey

Full operations on the Santa Barbara Sub are anticipated to resume the week of Feb. 11-18. Right now the line is being used at night by the IOALBR (started last night) and ILCOA (which resumes tonight) and ballast trains. Limited commuter operations resume Monday. There is an 8-hour curfew (0800-1600) around which nighttime freight operations will occur. Besides slope stabilization, there are 19 miles of undercutting and 24 miles of ditching to complete. The remaining auto and manifest trains are scheduled to return this Friday - again, during non-curfew hours.

On the Caliente Sub, limited operations will begin Monday, involving 14-17 trains during evening hours. A daily 0800-1600 curfew for engineering forces is in effect until at least January 31. There are something like 2,000 cars assigned to haul ballast and riprap.

I saw a northbound Autorack train leaving the depot in SLO at about 1:30 or so. From previous emails on HeadsUpCoastFans, she was down south earlier this morning.
