BNSF ES44DC 7650
Author: ATSF-Freak

Took some time out of my busy day to watch the Q-CLORIC3-25 roll into Richmond with the BNSF 7650, the first ES44DC, ride into town second out in the consist. Really cloudy day prevented better shots and the congested yard didn't provide the room for roster shots once the sun did come out. Oh well, there will be 149 more of them soon...

Woo Hoo Freak!! I was wondering when you were going to post these. I sure would like to know what that horn sounds like. Looks a little funny, as if it is turned backwards or something???

Horns......

Eric-

Thanks for sharing your fine images! Too bad they added the C44 to the point. Like you said, there will be other opportunities.

Dan- the horns have the bottom two bells facing forward (see image #3).

I look forward to hearing them as well. It would be nice if they became the BNSF standard.

Yea, its a K5H that was put on backwards from what I can tell. For those of you not into horns, this is what the last SP GEs had and the CNW GEs used also.

What's different is that the ES44DC is the replacement for the Dash-9. The prime mover is now 12 cylinders instead of 16, yet yields the same HP. Externally, the radiator section is different, have two distinct sections instead of one previously. The ES44DC is built on the same platform as the ES44AC, so there's no real spotting differences to see between the two models. What's new I guess is that BNSF is getting their first ones right now, and this one, at least, doesn't have that godawful new logo on it.

Where's the new Logo? Maybe this one was painted before the announcement, but is the rest of the order going to come like this, or with the revised paint scheme? Jeff

I surely hope they get that new, hot, hot paint scheme.

Anything ORDERED after the announcement will have the New Scheme. As well as any that go in for scheduled re-painting. I really enjoy the attention the "NEW" scheme is getting , people really get all hurt about something like a Logo change.
