Mystery GP38-2 solved.
Author: indyspy

Okay here is a good closeup of the unit, It still has it's builder's plates, so the mystery is solved. It is SMA 17. Now, to whom said it had SMA on the side, you are right. BUT, before that it has SMARRCO on the side. At some point it was changed.

The unit is now INRD 36

Sure looks like the Cleveland Electric GP38-2's that used to roam around my parts of NW OH in the early 1990's. I thought they all ended up on Uncle Pete though.

Was this a shared paint scheme?

Remember the CE units had one big swoop on the side, and not the double swoop the SMA units had.

Uh... Isn't SMA and Smarrco the same company....? SMA is the "official" reporting marks, but Smarrco is the quasi-name for the operation? Thats like arguing "its AMTRAK and not AMTK" whenever someone uses the reporting mark to identify the company?
