DRGW 3114 To Be Laid To Rest
Author: stretch

Per the UP cpu, the DRGW 3114 is to be stored at Jenks with numerous problems including severe hunting. Looks like another one will be put to the pasture.

I bet you five to one that the DRGW3114 will be deturboed, and rebuilt as a GP38-2. This has happened to a good number of Rio Grande GP40's. Usually, these units keep the standard GP40 3-fan setup, but, of course, have the normally-aspirated twin stacks, rather than the turbo stack.

No reason to lay it to rest. If it has a hunting problem then they should be checking the governor, then the rack and finally the injectors. The turbo might be a slight issue of not delivering enough air, clean filters will do wonders. Thats what i would be looking at. But im not there and it might have more problems then mentioned to put it in storage.

Have a safe day

It was more than that. It had several engine failures also. That was only one of the reasons that I could remember.

Thank goodness, I just got my info from the =li/ function. It said it was to be stored at jenks. figured that might would have been the end of the line for it. Also any news on the UP 8543 mech-man?
