Western Railroad Discussion > "Duel" on TV todayDate: 04/30/05 12:05 "Duel" on TV today Author: JohnSweetser This 1971 film, starring Dennis Weaver playing a motorist pursued by a crazed truck driver, features three scenes of SP freight train action in Soledad Canyon north of Los Angeles. At 1:15 p.m. Pacific Time, American Movie Classics cable channel.
In a partly-competing time slot, at 12:30 p.m. on Turner Classic Movies, is the film, "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers." This one has a brief scene of an SP cab foward pulling Coast Line freight #834 (probably shot in the Simi Valley). Date: 04/30/05 17:40 Re: Author: africansteam JohnSweetser Wrote:

Unfortunately, I could not be around for either of them. However, while I have seen "Duel" numerous times, I was not aware of "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers". It Sounds like bad Sci-fi, which I love. But bad Sci-fi with a cab forward - now that's gotta be great! I'll watch for it to come around again. Cheers, Africansteam Date: 04/30/05 18:15 Re: Author: LesWhite they are both available on dvd from amazon.com.............the duel dvd version has a completly different soundtrack in the exterior scenes more natural than the studio added ones i think it is a director's cut.........

Date: 04/30/05 20:50 Earth vs. the Flying Saucers Author: JohnSweetser Yep, "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" can be characterized as bad Sci-fi. The cab foward scene is about 50 minutes into the movie.
