William Schubert, the Transportation Department’s maritime administrator, said that in the wake of an attack using an overseas container, “We would have to shut our ports down for four months just to check all the containers".

Shipping containers offloaded at Canadian and U.S. ports could soon wind up almost anywhere in the United States after being trucked or railroaded from a seaport without even being opened.

On the bright side, Fred Thompson keeps climbing the ladder, from lawyer (co-chief counsel to the Senate Watergate Committee) to Admiral ("Hunt for Red October") to Senator (from Tennessee) to President ("Last Best Chance").

Dr Edward Teller, when testifing before Congress addressed the 'nuke in container' [problem. When asked how to prevent it, he replied..."With a Screwdriver". Meanig, each one would have to be opened,,,

Then again, if all the containers from the Peoples Liberation Army [China] got held up, we might just revitalize some American industries...Whats not to like about less Chinese stuff and more American stuff.
