UP's old nose logo on its Loco's
Author: Detector

What year did UP change the last Locomotive that used to spell out Union Pacific on their noses to the standard UP logo on the nose(I am not talking about the wings)? Thank you for your time and information. Detector out

The spelled out "UNION PACIFIC" on the nose came into use in 1959, and was completely eliminated in the simplified paint scheme adopted in November, 1980. Obviously older units carried earlier paint jobs later, but that was the date for new and repainted units to receive the nose medallion/large cab numbers in place of earlier markings.

Hope this helps.
