Systemwide coverage for the UP Heritage Units?
Author: David.Curlee

Does UP plan to use their Heritage units systemwide, or will each one be kept in their respective heritage territories? I think it kind of defeats the point, IMHO, if the appropriate employees and fans cannot appreciate "their" unit because it's a 1000 miles away from "home" rails.

Yeah, just like the "Houston Assigned Hauler"s running to Anahiem ...

TCS - not bad, don't like the initials next to the #boards but not bad ...

Me neither. Something tells me that someone (i.e. train crew, locomotive shop, railfan, etc.) will take it upon themselves to buy the same color paint in pint size and paint over the UP letters when nobody is looking.

Yeah, right! Out here in Western Colorado, we aren't likely to see any of them in anything like new condition. Once they are sooooo dirty that they can't be distinguised from the rest of the fleet, then we might see them. Heck, we haven't even seen the Olympic 2000 pair yet.

Ahh but UP 2002 or 01 led a MROGJ and then MGJRO maybe a year ago. I think there were photos of it crew changing in Helper.

The new issue of Railpace magazine has a pic of a newly repainted Rio Grande unit, in DRGW paint and livery, fresh from the paint shop, on the W&LE in Ohio. That's as far from the Rockies as one might expect...

Knowing my luck, I will probably end up seeing them on the CSX when I get back to SOuth Carolina in 6 months.

Yep - I shot the UP 2001 in Helper Last October. It was the lead unit on the MGJRO.
