SPMW 5726 @ South San Francisco, CA.

Noticed this flat car with wheelsets on it this morning, came back later on when I got home and took a few images, here's one. No car shops in the area on this side of the bay, I doubt Caltrain has a use for little wheels like that, and there's no discs on them, so not for passenger use.

Is this lost in transit, or just UP's way of routing cars for Oakland?

Well, if that is the SPMW 5726, it's supposed to end up in Milpitas at ZTS 03-524-00 (can anyone tell us where that is?), but it's been bouncing between Warm Springs, Milpitas and South City for the past 8 days! It had previously visited The Industrial City on July 25th.

Does Meridian Rail Services have a shop or RIP track in Milpitas/WS?

I saw that car on a manifest heading down the Warm Springs sub about a week and a half ago or so. You'd think it would have stayed there if that was its destination, but we *are* talking about UP here.

Hmmm...what's the gauge of those wheel sets? If I had to guess, they'd be for the vintage lines, if not then 5' BART.
