Freshly painted Ex-BNSF GP30 in Kansas City
Author: PumpkinHogger

Fresh out of Mid-America after painting is the former BNSF 2404. Painted in a pattern identical to heritage-I but without all the stripes, it is green and orange, with large yellow plain letters "BGCM" on the side of the hood and also in black in a small diamond on the nose.

I'm kinda suprised that BNSF seems to have disposed of one of its GP30s as these seem to be keepers really. Or maybe there is finally an excess of smaller four axle power what with all the flood of GEs the last few years.

Regardless, where is this old girl going in her new dress?

Addition: Thank you God for Google: http://www.trainweb.org/rosters/BGCM.html

BGCM stands for Bountiful Grain & Craig Mining. It was retired by BNSF in February 2004 after suffering wreck damage. Info from the latest issue of Extra 2200 South (#127). There was also a photo of this unit awaiting delivery to its new owner in a recent issue of Diesel Era.

Next time throught Henrietta Mo. look north on the west side of main street where all the rail and rail ties are stacked (just north of the west bound signal) and you will see part of the operation of the owner of BGCM RR in Lewiston Id. The owner owns a salvage operation in Henrietta and has purchased part of the old CSP RR in Lewiston.
