After 52 years, the ITM has been evicted by the city of Noblesville. What will happen now?

The worrying quote in there was the city official saying "we don't want the trains"... Hoping nothing goes to scrap as a result of this...

Wonder if there are a land developer and some lawyers somewhere in the background.

No, it's in a city park and this is the culmination of a long-standing feud with the city over the junky nature of the site.

The city owns the park, ITM is merely a tenant. For good or bad, the city has chosen to end that relationship, which as the property owner, is their right.

This is really a shame. Working together could have benefited them both.

And there in lies the problem with the Indiana Transportation Museum!

The ITM rightfully shares some of the blame for this fiasco, but the mayor of Noblesville is a lying manipulating scoundrel. (God I want to use harsher words there). The City of Noblesville made up their mind to throw out out the museum, the rail line, and convert the whole thing over to a trail, and ultimately it wouldn't have mattered one bit what the ITM did or didn't do. The ITM just made an easy target of themselves.

How much stuff does ITM need to move? I just do not want to see anything scrapped in place.

Is there anywhere else in Indiana which would like to host a transportation museum for the state?

Reportedly, Logansport has made overtures for the museum to move there. If the worst comes to pass perhaps some of the equipment could be leased out to various parties on liberal terms in the hopes of getting it back some day.

I have no feelings favoring the city or museum but visited the facility this year.

It was a disappointment as the membership had clearly not been keeping the facility in good shape. That is a shame but even if the rolling stock were moved to another location a lot of work would be needed to make it attractive to the general public.

Shame.

You have a point there!

Just keep in mind that all of this equipment is land-locked on an isolated piece of railroad. Getting anything moved off-site is going to be an expensive proposition.
