C&O 614 ready for movement?
Author: markyk

Seen a video from the C&O 614 Facebook page that the locomotive has been approved to move out of Clifton Forge......

Hopefully someone on this site, will alert us to any potential move out of the area as it makes its journey to Strasburg.......

Everyone here on Trainorders.com and many other sites are very interested in this engine and they wish to know when it will move.  My guess is that this will not be broadcast to the public as CSX does not want to have rail fans out along their property while it is in transit.  I'm sure that Norfolk Southern feels the same way.  But no matter how hard they try to keep this confidential, somebody will learn about this movement and it will be put out there on the Internet for all to see.  Let's just hope that everything goes well without any problems while the engine is shipped up to Strasburg, Pennsylvania for the rebuild.

More than likely we won't know about the move until that day comes.

No date has been finalized yet. Now that the mechanical inspections have been completed by FRA/NS/CSX we can wrap up all the paperwork and get waybills generated. I can tell you to save your vacation until next year. Nothing will happen before Jan. 1. We won't announce the move directly, but we are certain it will not be a secret with the locals and folks at the C&O Museum see CSX show up to start switching.

Let the fun begin!
