Merry Christmas-Frisco style.
Author: Frisco1522

Bringing the Christmas cards to St. Louis and points east is Frisco 4-8-2 No. 1507 eastbound with second No. 8 (the Bluebonnet) carrying mostly mail. Location is just east of Meramec Highlands in Kirkwood, MO, about 15 miles from St. Louis union station.
Photographer was the highly talented Ivan W. Oaks who died early in WWII in a plane crash. Photo taken in 1938. Enjoy!

Hey Frisco 1522,
My Dad used to talk about visiting that area. There is a cave in a quarry in the gully to the left here, and the Merramec River farther down. I can't remember if he took the train or maybe drove. Must have been in the '20s or '30s. Do you have any idea when service to the Meramec Highlands station ended.
Great photo, thanks for posting it.

Can't answer you on the last FRISCO service to this location but there was also street car service to this site.
