March 18th - Winter Wine Adventure Celebrate the departure of Old Man Winter - with a relaxing ride through the forested foothills of Mount Rainier. Well steam through tall timber, and over scenic trestles, while sampling several fine Washington state wines. A light box supper, served onboard in Morton, followed by gourmet coffee and chocolate round out your afternoon adventure. Train departs Elbe at 12:30 with a Return at 5:15p Current Weather Forecast: Sunny - 52ºF High, 35ºF low I'll be there - minus the camera. Time to kick back and relax Date: 03/17/06 08:38 Re: Mt. Rainier Scenic Excursion - Winter Wine Adventur Author: train671 The Mt. Rainier RR Crew ALWAYS puts on a great show and enjoyable experience. I have been on this route
before from Elbe to Morton and return. It isn't done all that often. Great scenery and the route crosses over two wooden trestles and some streams along the way plus great forests along the way. For a change I am leaving my camera home and just going to ride for the relaxation. If you live near the Mt. Rainier Scenic RR, do yourself a favor and join the trip. You might even enjoy the "vino" too. If you haven't riden this route before then bring your camera and get some great shots of the train going over the high wooden trestle on the way to Morton from one side of the train and then the other on the way back.
