Steam & Excursion > C&S #9 -- Old PhotosDate: 08/03/06 03:34 C&S #9 -- Old Photos Author: DRGW As reported a couple of days ago, C&S #9 was back under steam on the Georgetown Loop as of August 1st.
In surfing through TO, I checked out this site noted in another thread over on the Nostalgia Board by Jim Burrill (tolland): http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/ I did a little searching, and found these images of #9 from her heyday: http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN10435 http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN14253 http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN14254 http://muse.museum.montana.edu/rvndb/rvnjpeg_img_rec.php?objno=RVN14258 Her looks changed a bit over the years! Hope you enjoyed the pics... It is a fine site; Check it out when you have time! Take care, -Wes Date: 08/03/06 05:05 Re: C&S #9 -- Old Photos Author: LOGGERHOGGER For those who miss the "Bear Trap" Stack on #9 here is a shot from the 1930's of #9 at Denver, CO.
Martin Date: 08/03/06 06:15 Re: C&S #9 -- Old Photos Author: tolland Wes, thanks for pointing out those photos. The Montana site is fascinating for sure. At any rate, there has been discusson on the Narrow Gauge discussion group http://www.ngdiscussion.net about keeping the locomotive historically accurate. My comment to that discussion is there are numerous schemes that the locomotive has worn over the years. Consider that it actually had a "Burlington Route" shield on it for a time. Which years do they want to portray?
Those interested in more photos, there are numerous photos of #9 on the site above pulling at Georgetown. It's a Colorado Treasure for sure and one of which we are all proud, even if it did entail significant public money to restore. Jim Burrill Date: 08/04/06 14:23 Re: C&S #9 - Beartrap to be Reinstalled Author: cozephyr The Railstar guys are fabricating a beartrap smoke stake for the Colorado & Southern #9. Great reason to stop by and ride behind one of Colorado's oldest operating narrow gauge locomotive.
