West Virginia R.R. Museum leases WM coach
Author: Guitarman

The West Virginia R.R. Museum located in Elkins, West Virginia, has now leased a former Western Maryland original 80 seat passenger coach that was built by Pullman in 1917. The car had been in the collection of the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum located in Strasburg, Pa. and was given to the Western Maryland Historical Society, located in Union Bridge, MD. Since the WMHS has no place to keep the coach, it was moved to the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley R.R. in Belington, W.V. where it will be used in their passenger excursion trains that operate on former Western Maryland and B&O tracks that are now owned by the State of West Virginia. The museum is also in the process of restoring two former West Virginia Northern 2-8-0 steam engines, #8 & #9 which the hope to eventually operate. For additional information their web site is www.wvrailmuseum.com.

That is a terrific web site. Both informative and current. That should be a model for many museums to follow. It looks like they are headed in the right direction with their restoration plans. Sure wish I were closer.
