Scenery around Owosso is rather ordinary, but HTP and SRI (Steam Railroading Institute) put forth maximum effort and make the most of what is available (grain elevators, depots, farms, trestle) and add classic cars, trucks, tractors and people to enhance the scenes.
One volunteer spent countless hours making the Owosso depot signs, painting the trim on the building, removing the fence along the track and generally cleaning up the area to make the shot that you see here. Similar efforts went into painting and lettering steam era freight cars, cleaning up the yard for night shots at the turntable and clearing brush and weeds at photo locations on the two lines out of Owosso. Sign up for the next one, you won't regret it. 1225 is one magnificent machine. Consider coming to Owosso for Train Festival 2009 (http://www.trainfestival2009.com/) and see two big Berks (1225 and 765)! Michael Allen |
