B-2 from the Silver Vista
Author: 5-String

Last fall, my wife and I traveled to Colorado for a vacation. One of the highlights of our trip was to ride the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. We debated a bit deciding whether or not to spend the extra money to ride in the glass roofed Silver Vista car.

It turns out the view was well-worth the money. In addition to being able to see more of the canyon walls as we rode along, we also happened to catch a high-tech refueling operation of a B-2 stealth bomber overhead.

And when you said B-2 I was thinking of the Cinco Animas...

The Silver Vista is a great ride, and offers views you just can't get from any other car, even from the back platform of the parlor car. And very comfortble roomy 1-2 seating that facilitates moving around, unlike the crowded open gons. But beware of cold wet days.....it can get rather raw since even with the glass roof, the wind blows the rain in.
