(Warning: photos contain diesels. May cause viewers with preexisting tendencies to pule or bloviate. Consult your doctor before looking.) 1. Approaching White Rock from the USA/Canada border. 2. About two miles west (railroad north) of White Rock. 3. CN's West Van switcher felt jealous of all the attention the Royal Hudson was getting. - Loleta Fernbridge Date: 02/09/10 21:34 Re: Royal Hudson, Day Two Author: africansteam Love that second photo!

/Mitch Date: 02/10/10 03:41 Re: Royal Hudson, Day Two Author: andersonb109 If BNSF is so worried about the steamer breaking down, then why don't they attach one of their units to every Amtrak train that tavels their lines as they seem to be prone to frequent loco failures!

Didn't CPR at one time have some wine/maroon F7 Bs that they used to use in their excursion train. That sure would be a much nicer looking match. Granted this is not CPR they are running on. Tom P Date: 02/10/10 11:20 Re: Royal Hudson, Day Two Author: agent1522 ctjacks Wrote:

The two rear cars on the consist are from the defunct Waterloo-St. Jacobs Railway in Ontario. The Westcoast Railway Association bought five cars from the WSJ in 2006 and two of them (3218 and 3233) were delivered to WCRA in August 2009. They are both cafe-coach cars, originally CN coaches built by CC&F in 1954 and acquired by the Waterloo-St. Jacobs in 1997. Don't let the whiners get you down! Dave Crosby Date: 02/10/10 12:46 Re: Royal Hudson, Day Two Author: Tominde Is 2860 now an oil burner???

------------------------------------------------------- > Is 2860 now an oil burner??? It was built as an oil burner, for passenger service between Vancouver and Revelstoke. The CPR main line west of Calgary was converted to oil mid-century (1930's). Between Calgary and Revelstoke, "Selkirk" 2-10-4's designed by Henry Bowen (designer of the Royal Hudsons) with the same streamlining were used. Its "home shop" would have been Vancouver Drake Street, not far from where it operated out of Vancouver on this excursion. "Dreaming in technicolor", wouldn't a 2039 recreation of the Royal Train of 1939 with 5931 from Calgary to Revelstoke and 2860 or even the "true" Royal Hudson 2850 in charge be magnificent? King William will be impressed. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/10/10 13:05 by eminence_grise. Date: 02/14/10 14:56 Re: Royal Hudson, Day Two Author: SD45X Love the second shot, too.
