Saturday, May 16th sponsored by the United Way and the Reading & Northern Railroad Company. http://www.readingnorthern.com/passenger.shtml #1 Tunkhannock, PA - following the Susquehanna River #2 Duryea, PA - just North of the crossing before the cemetery - perhaps the best lighting of the day and the most impressive stack talk of the trip - heard her working long before she was visible! #3 , PA "Where am I" - help me fill in the blank, please! /Mitch Edited 1 time(s). 4: RBMN #425 takes a spin on the table. Auxiliary tender, tender and #425 easily fit on the former CNJ turntable with several atoms of space to spare! The table was turned by the front end loader (and chain). 5: RBMN #425 from the overlook at Glen Onoko, PA just North of Jim Thorpe in the Lehigh Gorge Park. Wouuld've made an awesome inbound photo and something to remember next time. Does anyone know if there is an overlook from the other side via trail? Or perhaps the same side but with a more broadside view? Seems there was a clearing. 6: Four-Twenty-Five at White Haven, PA just before the then shaded Northern tunnel portal. /Mitch Date: 05/18/10 19:30 Re: Tunkhannock to Jim Thrope & return featuring RBMN # Author: Mgoldman 7: My only attempted pan of the day.
Could use a location here, as well. 8: Back in the vicinity of Tunkhannock, PA Hope you enjoyed! /Mitch Date: 05/19/10 06:26 Re: Tunkhannock to Jim Thorpe & return featuring RBMN # Author: OCtrainguy Great photos Mitch. I had thought about making a jump over to Jim Thorpe to see about photographing the steam engine on the turntable, but I stayed in the Lehigh Gorge State Park. One of the reasons for that was the really good parking spot I had gotten and I constantly saw cars looking for parking spots throughout the morning and afternoon. So I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get a spot if I left. It wasn't until we were leaving around five o'clock that I saw a decent amount of parking spots as I exited the park. Also, the kids really wanted to check out the waterfall.

Did you have any trouble walking in to the turntable? Did anyone stop you, or, were the employees OK with you shooting there. Keystone1

Keystone Fotunately, to date, there is still a place (or two) in Pennsylvania where the honor system is still in effect and workign where responsible fans are not hassled on such occasions at this specific location. /Mitch |
