A Welcome to Scranton from the President of GVT
Author: Bridge60

Hello All,

This was passed on to me from my boss. Some valuable info...

For all of you who are in Scranton this week for the NRHS convention, we welcome you. Please be aware that the DL is a very active railroad dispatching three crews a day in five different directions out of the Scranton yards/Steamtown Complex. So be aware that if one train leaves, there could be another one right on the next track, including multiple moves by Steamtown. We operate a PT98-97 Portland/Slateford/Delaware Water Gap train to our NS interchange; this train usually operates Monday-Wed-Friday departing in the morning. We also dispatch a Laurel Line job, a Carbondale Line north job and a Southside job that goes down to & past our enginehouse. There are interchange trains over to CP’s Taylor yards that operate almost daily and they will come back with merchandise freight and unit grain trains for the Cargill Mill at Pocono Summit. Both the grain trains and PT jobs operate with 3-5 hard working ALCOS. Enjoy them as we do earning their keep.

All employees at the DL are aware of the heightened activities that will be on and around the property. Please respect active tracks, stay clear of tracks while walking or photographing and stay on public property as much as possible. The DL will park locomotives at night in semi-public accessible areas; please do not climb on the locomotives. The Bridge 60 Tower houses our managers and dispatcher. Please do not trespass and enter or climb the outside stairs to the Tower. There will be plenty of word-of-mouth announcements of our daily freight & Trolley operations. You will have a chance to ride behind our 3 former D&H RS-3’s as they pull you over our Pocono Main on the Thursday excursion.

Enjoy your time on the National Convention and be respectful and sensible. Just a point of information - do not trespass on CP property. They maintain a zero tolerance policy.

And David, luckily the Californians who use the railhead to balance their
cameras for night shots will not be attending.

I'll say it again, what a classy operation and very railfan friendly. Hat's off to them.
