Steam & Excursion > Three Foot ThursdayDate: 02/03/11 06:15 Three Foot Thursday Author: Jason-Rose My subject for today is Colorado & Southern #9. Originally she was Denver South Park & Pacific #72 and later Denver, Leadville, & Gunnison #114. I believe she pulled the final passenger train on the old DSP&P line from Leadville & Breckenridge through Como to Denver in 1937.
The photos are from the Georgetown Loop, October 2006. This was just a week before the fire in #9 was dropped for good. She's now on display in Breckenridge. Photo 1) Silver Plume Yard, backing into the Engine House for the night. Photo 2) Silver Plume Yard, south of the Depot, heading west. Photo 3) Heading west over the Devils Gate High Bridge above Georgetown. *All three photos were taken by my wife. I was busy working the video camera that day. When you push or tow a Shay, does the whole gear train work or can you disable it? Curious minds need to know. Date: 02/03/11 14:24 Re: Three Foot Thursday Author: Harlock The whole gear train works, yes, but I have seen sometimes where the connecting shafts from the trucks to the universal joints are disconnected.
