Coos Bay Lbr #10 - Her Final Days - Hard To Watch!
Author: LoggerHogger

If you have small children you may want them to leave the room. The images below are graphic and not for the faint of heart.

The images show the final days of Coos Bay Lumber Co. 2-8-2T #10 in Florida.

While it is sad to see this once proud logger go to the torch, she has become a "donor engine" for several other projects. Several of us have been able to purchase from the scrapper many key pieces that will be used on other steam locomotives. We have been able to save items such as the reverser, the turret, the manifold, the couplers, the cylinder cocks, the burner and many other pieces that will be used to complete other steam locomotive restorations. The scraper has been very good to work with and has taken care to save peices that we have asked for so that CBL #10 did not die in vain.

Martin -

Good spin on a sad occasion. It's encouraging to hear that parts have been saved to keep others alive.

Looks like there are still some salvageable parts left.

Good job, Martin! I'm glad you're on top of it! It's kinda like being an organ donor, huh?

Just out of curiosity, as the firebox was being cut away how did the crown sheet and the other sheets look?

Is The Reverend going to get that nozzle stand for his 'Fountain of Youth' project in the garden?

Once the Rev heard there was no rusty tender along with the engine, he quickly lost interest.
