What's Next for 21st Century Steam?
Author: 5-String

Has anyone heard about any more trips this year (or next)?

I just checked the TVRM web site and didn't see anything new.

Thanks,

S.P. Gass

That's nice. But...anything within driving distance from Chattanooga?

I remember hearing about an excursion to Knoxville and back in November sometime but God only knows if that will actually follow through. Theres nothing on their website about it so I highly doubt it. Im planning on chasing the 630 to Summerville & back on November 5th if the weather good.

"21st Century Steam" is the name of Norfolk Southern's renewed program so I think the question was about that specifically.

I suggest you check here: http://www.21stcenturysteam.com/

If it doesn't appear at that web site, it is not part of the 21st Century Steam program. I'm not sure exactly why you would think you would find official information from some place other than the official place to find information from.....specifically the 21st Century Steam program website...http://www.21stcenturysteam.com/

Yes, I was looking for NS 21st Century Steam info, although it is good to hear about other events.

The 21st Century Steam links to TVRail.com for schedules. TVRM is NS's partner for operating the trips. Sometimes, people know things before they are officially announced...

I can't comment about 21st Century Steam specifically...I would expect that NS will make announcements when the appropriate time arrives. I can however mention that TVRM has added an additional "Summerville Steam Special" for November 6. Get your tickets before they're gone!

I was kinda hoping for some "insider" information too. Vacation bids for 2012 will be due before you know it. The NS steam program would be very much welcomed into the planning stages of a trip into Dixie. It looks like Kentucky might have knocked itself out of the trip with the L&N 152 being 'down for the count'. Of course, West Virginia will be included with the Durbin Rocket and Cass. I'm hoping that the Smoky Mountain Railroad will be able to get their little Swedish engine running again. Tweetsie is absolutely on the list as is Spencer shops, but I'm up for any other suggestions on places to go and the best time to do it.
