Steam & Excursion > 261Date: 04/28/12 23:05 261 Author: bighook Does anyone have any idea when this engine will run again? Some say never as the money is going elsewhere.

I have read recently that they purchased some of the support cars from another steamer also. I think it was Frisco 1522? Date: 04/29/12 03:32 Re: 261 Author: andersonb109 Do you seriously think they would have put so much time and money into it as has been the case over the last year not to run it again? From everything I've read, Fall is a realistic target date.

It took a lot of negotiating and lots of angst to settle the dispute with the museum and purchase the locomotive outright. Would they go through all that only to let her sit and rust? I don't think so!
Date: 04/29/12 09:43 Re: 261 Author: Mgoldman There was "talk" of steam up in Spring /Summer of uh... THIS year with a small
possibility of an excursion as early as this Fall. Or of course throughout 2013. Any word on PRR 1361? (lol). /Mitch Date: 04/29/12 09:43 Re: 261 Author: Hillcrest I don't think there is a better or more responsible-run operation out there than the 261 program, and the Sandburgs aren't known for frivolous spending. They're buying cars because they can, and I'll be surprised if the Fall Colors Excursions run with anything other than the 261 on the point. My prediction and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee...but I'm stickin' by it.
