I don't like being where the pack is even if it means being on the "wrong side" for light and such. Keeps the creative juices flowing in my opinion. Also that span on the Missouri River bridge is SUPER long, it's a pretty amazing thing to see from down below.

The last image is of my father, who thankfully introduced me to steam before I could talk. Many adventures and many memories thanks to him.

LOVE the picture of your dad looking over his shoulder at 765. Priceless and timeless! Just Beautiful!! That picture could SO be in a book about steam, father and son.

Thanks! It was a quick grab shot and hard to get the angle from the drivers seat. My brother is in the background as well taking pics, got lucky getting it all in the frame.

Excellent images. I'd vote for number one as IOTD. The shot with your father is priceless.

Excellent series! Was giving my daughter a tour of Shorpy's last night, describing how (I felt) black & white remains the king when creativity is key...and also reminded me of when I used to load up on Panatomic-X!

I hope my children will one day find a love for trains and serving the community. Lord knows I exposed them to both.
